The computer has to be able to create and edit home movies (this is a separate entity from the digital movie camera). All together they should be lower than $2000. The digital movie camera is kinda optional for you to answer to. Thanks so much in advance.

Ok so I have a bunch of old computers, and some new ones, sitting at home right now. I thought it would be fun to try to use these computers in a computing grid. But how do I do it? I figure I would probably need some kind of software, in that case would I need to install the software on each computer or just the host?

I recently revived an old computer and plugged it right into the wall so it would receive internet from our home network. We already have two computers receiving internet this way but since this is an old computer, it’s trying to get internet from its old connection. How do I make it so it takes the internet from the wall and uses that to get on the internet? Greatly appreciated.

I use a router to share the internet connection with 2 computers, the IP address which the computer has is only accessible from within the network, how exactly can I access these computers from outside my home network?

I have a number of simple questions about computers. I know enough about computers to use them, but with all the recent changes and upgrades, I’m hoping someone can tell me a little more. I am looking for a desktop computer that is a good brand name at a reasonable price (within the $500-$1200 range) that is compatible with the accessories sold at Wal-Mart (locally, Wal-Mart is the closest place to shop in my area, the nearest electronics store is two hours away). I would also like to know how much RAM and memory capacity I should be looking for in a computer where I would be installing a TV tuner to edit home movies and video clips, as well as several paint shop and word processing programs, but I don’t need any gaming capabilities since I don’t use my computers for games. I would like a computer that has a good processor as well. Any help on just some basics of the new computers would be appreciated.

I can’t install anything on the school computers and I would like to be able to boot an app of some sort off my flash drive that enables me to access my home computer in a fashion similar to remote desktop so I can use all of my software that I have installed on my home computer during the extra free time in class. I believe the school has already disabled remote desktop so I will need something else that functions independently of that.

I use Windows filesharing and would like to stop one computer on my LAN from accessing anything but other computers on my local network- I do not want it to be able to access the internet.
Can anyone recommend how to do this?
I would like this to be something configured in Windows itself since I do not want all partitions on the computer to be unable to access the internet. Just one of them.
